How Can I Protect My Family?
In our opinion, at the very minimum, people who are deaf or hard of hearing should have a visual smoke detector in their bedroom, and it should be hardwired and interconnected with a compatible hallway smoke detector. Then, if any connected smoke detector activates, the interconnection causes all detectors to activate, and the high intensity strobe light to flash. The intent is to prevent death caused by fire or smoke inhalation. If a fire occurs in your home, you and your family will need every second of early warning just to escape a death by fire. Recently, several family members, in various cities, did not make it. You now have an opportunity.
Note: The United States Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) and other authorities prohibit the use of portable alarms.
How Much Does This Life Safety Equipment Cost?
The life safety investment in your family depends upon the number of bedrooms that are occupied by deaf or hard of hearing residents. The cost of the products, as recommended, breaks down like this -- If one bedroom is used by a deaf or hard of hearing person or couple, the cost is about 28 cents, a day for a year, then it is free. If two bedrooms are occupied by deaf residents, the cost is about 52 cents, a day for a year, then it is free. And if three bedrooms house sleeping deaf occupants, the investment is about 75 cents, a day for a year, then it is free. For each additional level of living space, add 4 cents a day.
The actual cost for each visual smoke detector is $86.00 and for each audible hallway smoke detector the cost is $16.50. To calculate your daily cost for one year, based upon one bedroom is $86.00 + $16.50 = $102.50 divided by 365 days = 28 cents per day. After that it is FREE. Installation costs are not included and will depend on tradesmen in your area.
We think that you will agree that the lives of your family are worth considerably more than 28 cents, 52 cents or 75 cents per day, respectively. Your peace of mind is worth millions.
